Halkidiki is one of the most popular holiday’s destinations for families with kids. There are many interesting places for children’s entertainment besides clear sea and beautiful sandy beaches which will be of great interest for young tourists in Halkidiki.

Zoo in Thessaloniki

Zoo is located in Ano Poli in Thessaloniki, so it is convinient to combine visiting of placesof interests with the Zoo. The entrance to the Zoo in Thessaloniki is free.

Park of attractions Magic Park in Thessaloniki

All children will be happy to visit park of attractions,  MagicPark in Thessaloniki. There are a lot of attractions and entertainment for small kids and  older children. Having bought the entrance ticket  (kids less 1 meter height for free, for children and people older 60 – 8 euro, for adults – 12 euro) you can use all the attractions in the park as much as you want. Also there are a lot of entertainments for extra fee such as shooting galleries, bouncy castles etc.  Magic Park is open during the summer from 16.00 – 00.00 on week-days and 11.00 – 00.00 on week-ends.

Park is located opposite the shopping centre Cosmos that is why the trip to children’s park can be combined with shopping for adults.

Waterland in Halkidiki

Children having a holiday in Halkidiki will get a great pleasure from visiting  Waterland. It is one of the largest water parks in Europe  and  the only water park in Northern Greece. It is located only  15 minutes away from the center of Thessaloniki.

Waterland in Halkidiki provides free transportation for their visitors from several points in Thessaloniki:  Many travel agencies in Halkidiki organize day excursions to Thessaloniki which include sightseeing and shopping in Thessaloniki and Waterland.

There are many slides, large and small swimming pools with waves, water-bikes with water-guns, pirate’s island, restaurants, cafes and souvenir shop – all these will be very amusing for young and old visitors to Waterland in Thessaloniki.

Planetarium-Thessaloniki science center & technology museum

Only a 15 minute drive from the center of Thessaloniki or 30 minute drive from our apartments Dionisos there is a very exciting place of interest for children: planetarium. It is called by people the planetarium but its official name is Thessaloniki science center & technology museum which highlights much better.

Petralona Cave in Halkidiki

Petralona cave is located 50 km from Thessaloniki, this excursion will be very interesting for adults and children also. The cave was discovered not long ago – only in 1959 and became famous in 1960 after they discovered the famous fossilized skull of the oldest European man. The age of the skull which was found is 700 000 years old and was discovered among the traces of fireplace, which is considered to be the ancient evidence and significant site of using fire in Europe.

Children will rave about seeing with their own eyes freakish stalagmites and stalactites of Petralona and go through the cave, the length of which is about 2 km (the length of the way during the excursion is significant less that is why evenyoung children will not be tired).

Don’t forget to take warm clothes – the all round temperature inside of the cave is 17°С!

There is an Anthropological Museum near the Petralona Cave where you can see the finds of the excavations. These findings presented there were found mainly from the Cave, but also from other parts of Greece.

Petralona Cave is open for visiting during summer every day from 9.00 till 18.00 .The adults ticket costs 7 euro.
