Work permit in Greece

Work permit in Greece

Employees from non-EU countries must have a work permit and the residence permit.

A worker must first obtain a work permit from Greek authorities and when this is available he must have a contract with an employer apply for the residence permit (National visa, type D) at the Greek Embassy or Consular Section in the applicant’s country of residence.

The work permit is obtained by the employer. A potential employer must prove to the Greek Office of Manpower that a Greek national or EU national was not able to fill a working position first.

After the getting work permission the employee applies to the National Visa for work at the Consular Section in the applicant’s country of residence.
