The traditional Tomato Day took place on 28 of July in Paralia Dionisiou Beach. This holiday is celebrated in the village every year.
Many local residents and foreign guests who live and have their holidays in Paralia Dionisiou visit this event. Also many people from neighbouring villages and towns – Flogita, Nea Plagia, Dionisiou, Zografou, Nea Moudania and others visit our village.
Tomato Day was held for 2 days. A performing stage was erected in the central square of the village where various dancing clubs and organisations gave performances with greek songs and dances, which attracted a large audience. Many greek people took part in national dances with great pleasure and taught foreigners traditional sirtaki.
Besides the concert there was a large organised market, where people could buy traditional greek sweets – honey donats (loukoumades) and bachlava, national homemade drinks – tsipouro, ouzo, retsina and also honey, olives and other local specialties.
Guests who happened to be in Paralia Dionisiou Beach during these days had a chance to watch and participate in traditional greek celebrations and felt the holiday atmosphere.
