Winter in Halkidiki
February in Halkidiki differs from the February in most parts of Europe.
First of all you notice a different range of colors in the environment. The sun shines bright and you feel the dizziness from the fresh sea air.
The temperature of Halkidiki in February can vary – it can rain and even snow (to the happiness of local children) but usually the sun shines.
The thermometer showed +20C in the central square of Paralia Dionisiou Beach on 29th of February!
Winter in Nea Moudania
Nea Moudania is a lively and busy town all year round. The life here is very active in summer and in winter, with a break for siesta, of course 😉

The seaside promenade in winter doesn’t differ from the summer one, the only difference is the quantity of people on holidays.
At noon the central square is lonely and quite because of siesta. But there are plenty of locals enjoying the morning and evening walk by the seaside.
There are many mandarine trees in the neighborhoods around the main church in Nea Moudania.
You can see mimoza bushes in many streets of Nea Moudania town.

Winter in Paralia Dionisiou Beach
Approximately 150 families live in Paralia Dionisiou Beach all year round. There is an elementary school, church, supermarket, butcher shop, bakery, hairsalon and several cafe and taverns which are open throughout the whole year.
Most of the apartments and houses are used by the owners during holidays and summer vacation.
The beach in Paralia Dionisiou looks like it hasn’t been attended to in the winter due to the strong wind and waves which change the landscape every few days. It is difficult to believe that this beach has a complete different condition and view during the summer season.
If you are lucky mount Olympus is clearly visible from Dionisiou Beach.
The seagull is swimming in the fountain of the central square in Paralia Dionisiou. The picture doesn’t show its’ size – the bird has the same size as a large turkey.
The outspread of the seagull’s wings is at least 80 sm or more!
The central square in Paralia DIonisiou Beach looks lonely in the winter.
